The Precipice of Corruption July 2025 Update
The Precipice of Corruption » Devlog

Today I uploaded an updated version of The Precipice of Corruption. Every time I do a new printing I make sure to massage a book to be more in line with what I have learned about game design, usability at the table, and the incremental development of my Stennard setting.
For those of you here, on Itch, the version that lived here was pretty old so the updates might feel somewhat significant.
- The 4th printing was a year ago, but if I recall correctly the big change was that I made some of the monsters a little more dangerous. I think I also corrected an issue with a Luck check that I had given a DC. This was an error from when I didn't use Luck checks at all in the game, a pretty egregious oversight in retrospect.
- The Friendships & Affiliations of the NPCs were added and expanded to include new characters from the Stennard setting.
5th Printing Updates:
- In Stennard and at my table, my Birth Auger chart has evolved over time. Unholy house is called, maggots. Lucky sign doesn't exist (my Birth Auger chart drops 6 of the Birth Augers completely). Path of the bear is just called, bear. All of the NPCs were updated to the current state of the Birth Augers I use.
- One of the big innovations from Goodman Games Dungeon Denizens book is the addition of Crit, Table notes in the stat blocks of the monsters for easy reference. This addition did require some nudging of text and stat blocks to make things fit better.
- Squelicck was made to feel more like a lieutenant with an increase in hit dice, HP, AC, and a slightly nastier Crit. Table than a standard Nolid.
- Also, nolids use the slightly more sneaky and ruthless thief Crit. Table, which felt fitting.
That should be it. Questions and comments are welcome.
-Nick
